At a Japanese building entrance, take a moment to read the panel before touching it. Look for the building name, floor number, tenant board, and any note about after-hours access. If the details do not match, step away from the door and confirm calmly.
Intercom Etiquette
Use the intercom only when you are reasonably sure of the correct room or floor. Speak briefly, avoid loud conversation, and do not press multiple buttons. If you made a mistake, apologize and move away from the entrance.
Inside the Lobby
Once the door opens, move quietly through the lobby and keep space around mailboxes and elevators. Do not hold the door open for a long time while checking your phone. If your destination changes, wait in a public area and send a short update.
